SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR OFF-CAMPUS STUDENTS

TexShare and Other Consortiums

The Jernigan Library is a member of the TexShare Library Resource Program, Amigos, Paisano, Coastal Bend Health Information Network.

TexShare, is a statewide program that allows community colleges, four-year colleges, and universities to share resources.  The TexShare program administers the TexShare card agreements which allows faculty and students of higher education institutions to check out materials (usually books) from participating TexShare libraries.  Libraries issue TexShare cards to their students and faculty.  However, TexShare cards are only good for one semester.  Faculty and students must reapply for a new TexShare card each semester.  Visit the TexShare Card Agreement page to get a complete overview to the TexShare card policies that participating libraries must follow.

TexShare cards are available at the Jernigan Library Access Services Department for TAMUK students and faculty or via the online form at http://lib.tamuk.edu/access/texshare_form.htm .  Users with valid TexShare cards can borrow up to four books from most Texas college and university libraries.  Applications for TexShare  cards will be available online soon.  Your TexShare card will be mailed, first class U.S. mail, as quickly as possible, usually within 1 business day.

Once you receive TexShare card, you can use it to check out materials from participating TexShare libraries.  You must present a current TexShare card, a TAMUK ID, and a picture ID to the library from which you wish to borrow materials.  A full listing of the libraries participating in the TexShare card program and their policies is available from the TexShare homepage.
