Jernigan Library Locate Books Policy

A patron may complete a Locate Request Form for material that is not checked out and can not be found on the shelf or the sorting areas.  The Library staff will attempt to locate the missing material.  The following guidelines will be used:

1.  After the request has been submitted, the material will be searched for three consecutive days (if necessary).  The patron will be notified of the results by no later than the third day.

2.  If the material has not been found in three days, the item will be marked missing in the online catalog.

3.  Subsequent searches will be made for the missing materials.

4.  If the material has not been found in one year after being marked missing, the library will declare it lost.  Once the material is declared as lost, that material will either be replaced with another copy or withdrawn from the catalog.
