Library Administration

Library Administration is responsible for the management of all library operations and ensures that the Library mission statement is fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner.

Reference & Instruction Services

Research & Information Services consists of the following departments/areas: Research & Information, Instructional Services, Education Materials, and Government Information. Interlibrary Loan, Document Delivery, and Distributed Library Services

Interlibrary, Document Delivery, and Distributed Library Services handles all borrowing and lending to and from other institutions and the delivery of documents from commercial vendors.  This Unit also manages library services to off campus students.

Access Services

Access Services consists of the Circulation, Reserve, and Shelving Units. The Circulation Unit administers the circulation of library materials. The Reserve Unit prepares and manages all reserve materials. The Shelving Unit is responsible for the maintenance of all stack areas, including shelving and reshelving of materials.

Technical Services

The Technical Services Department consists of the Acquisitions, Serials, and Cataloging Units. All ordering of materials, check-in and binding of serials, and processing of materials for public use is performed in this department.

Technology Learning Center (formerly Media Services)

The Technology Learning Center's mission is to improve learning and teaching through the effective use of media. The Center includes a Media Lab and an Audiovisual Lab. The Technology Learning Center offers limited production services and equipment loan, and also provides access to a PC-based computer graphic workstation.

South Texas Archives

The South Texas Archives is a Jernigan Library department located in Baugh Hall on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus. The Archives were established to preserve and to make available to the public documentary materials about the history and natural history of South Texas. The collection includes rare books, manuscripts, official archival records of the University, microforms, photographs, and oral history tapes. The South Texas Archives was designed as a regional Historical Resource Depository for the Texas State Library and Archives System and holds records from the eleven surrounding counties.

The Library Systems manages the Library's network infrastructure, online catalog, and library web site.
